Dating activities for discussion
"This is a great query because a dream job merges meaning, passion, and lifestyle," Jones explains. If things get a bit awkward or serious, divert to a more carefree topic.
Everyone loves to laugh, and talking about the things that make you both fall into a fit—cheesy pickup lines, dad jokes, a particular You Tube flick—gets the conversation flowing... Lots of laughter on a first date is a great sign, Jones says.
Then, I create a slideshow that had 7 discussion topics, one on each slide. We have gone 1:1 this year so each student has a Google Chromebook.
It's not just about hanging out with couples who are in the same stage of life as you, either.
In fact, there are three distinct categories of couples to consider as you double date: Once you've identified some potential couples, it's time to make your double date happen!
There is a small amount of prep that goes into this. It just made more logistical sense in my classroom.
First, I created an overview sheet that explained the concept to my students and included a graphic organizer for them to fill out to give them some accountability. Set up the desks and then divide your class into two groups, one that stays sitting and one that rotates. Again, I used a simple graphic organizer that I assigned to my kids through Google Classroom.
That led me to create a new discussion style: “Speed Dating Discussion.” One set of students stays sitting in chairs while the other group rotates around.
They spend a few minutes with one of the “sitting” students discussing the current topic on the board. It’s just like speed dating, but the goal is to end with debate, not a date. I had my “sitting” students sit on the inside of the circle so the other half could just rotate around the outside.
The problem wasn’t them; in most of the classrooms where they’d sat as students, that’s exactly what a class discussion looked like.
They didn’t know any other “formats.” I have only ever been familiar with a few myself.
To watch each strategy in action, click on its name and a new window will open with a video that demonstrates it. Basic Structure: Stations or posters are set up around the classroom, on the walls or on tables.
This lesson plan focuses on conversational practice to encourage English learners to use a wide variety of language functions such as demanding explanations, making complaints, giving warning, etc.
I had a timer going on the board and for 2 minutes they had to have “lids down” and just have a conversation.Tags: Adult Dating, affair dating, sex dating
